Welcome to Fan History,

Fan History has grown during the past year. It now has over 460,000 pages and over 1,000 users. This growth has so far been rather random. As plans are to continue to expand the wiki to make it a more useful tool for academics, businesses operating in fandom, fan historians and fandom in order to preserve our history, Fan History needs a way to channel that growth. To deal with that, a series of to do lists have been created to deal with certain parts of the wiki. Please help Fan History by completing tasks on these lists and by suggesting new tasks. Use specific to do lists like Actors to do in order to coordinate with other contributors in accomplishing these tasks.

General

... upgrade the back end of Fan History in order to allow for additional growth. Install MediaWiki 1.13, subversion, get Lucene search up and working.

Actors

... figure out a way to organize the pages in Category:Actor fandoms and Category:Actors that is logical.
... move applicable content out of Category:Real Person Fic (RPF) in order to help delete that category.

Anime

... figure out a plan of action for dealing with anime ship names that are located in the terminology category.
... integrate articles about JPop and KPop into the anime category.

Books

... promote book fandom articles, asking for people to help contribute to the articles.
... provide translations of the Harry Potter article into other languages.

Cartoons

... deemphasize fan fiction on existing pages in the Cartoons fandom category.
... promote cartoon fandom articles, asking for people to help contribute to the articles.

Comics

... promote comics fandom articles, asking for people to help contribute to the articles.
... find comics fandom historians to get involved with Fan History to help bulk up and make the section more accurate.

Movies

... make sure that all the page names in the sub categories have defaultsort done so articles and categories ignore the words the and a when sorting.
... adding canon release dates to timelines for to help give perspective of when fanac was happening in relation to that event.

Music

... figure out a way to organize the pages in Category:Politics fandoms and Category:Politics that is logical.
... discuss "Is politics a fandom?" on the Fanhistory.com:Politics to do... talk page and at Category:Politics, taking the results of that conversation and integrating in to how this category is treated.
... figure out how to handle the more controversial articles, like fandoms based on figures like Adolf Hitler in a way that is fair.

Science fiction

... find science fiction historians to get involved with Fan History to help bulk up and make the section more accurate.

Sports

... deemphasize the fan fiction part in the existing articles about sports.
