Thamiris was a well-loved and respected member of several fan communities, including Xena, Hercules, Smallville, and Queer as Folk. She was a writer, essayist, archivist, LiveJournal community member and mailing list moderator.

Below is a partial timeline of Thamiris's involvement in fandom.
- On April 4, 2007, Thamiris passed away due to breast cancer.
- On June 9, 2007, the LiveJournal community tham_preserved was created to help raise donations to convert Thamiris's livejournal to permanent status. This goal was achieved on June 21, 2007.[1] The community has since worked to continue to preserve Thamiris's memory and website.
- On January 4, 2008, it came out that a fan fiction writer named boyan-fraser plagiarized Thamiris. [2] The plagiarism extended beyond the stories but also went so far as to include plagiarizing comments in reply to the story. [3] The reaction against this plagiarism was fueled by feelings relating to the fact that Thamiris has passed away. This means that, in the case of reporting this plagiarism to LiveJournal, it may be more difficult to get it removed as the site's policy may still be "to ignore copyright violations unless the copyright owner is the one making the report."
