- backstory: a prequel fic that takes place either in the character's adventures before the pilot, or on the home planet [1]
The following definition dates to September 2003 in the Kingdom Hearts fandom:
- Backstory: A fic that takes place before what the actual book/movie is about. (Ex: A fic describing the fall of Mithril Hall.) [2]
