[edit] Introduction

The 2099 Underground (UG) was founded in 1996 on the Marvel Comics Message Boards on AOL. The group was structured to be headed by an Editor-in-Chief with an Assistant Editor-in-Chief to help in the running and maintaining of the group. The group was active in this format as the 2099 Underground (UG) from 1996 to 2004. The goal of the 2099 Underground (UG) was to continue the universe at the point of the Marvel 2099 writer's walkout in protest of the sacking of Marvel 2099 Editor-in-Chief Joey C. and then canceling all the titles.

The 2099UG was succeeded by the 2099 Underground Revised (UGR) in mid-2004. The purpose of the real start was to allow newer writers an easier entrance into the continuity heavy 2099UG world.
