- In 2002, the band released their first album. It was self titled. [2]
- On April 4, 2002, the LiveJournal community 30secondstomars was created. [3]

- On April 10, 2004, the Orkut community 30 seconds to mars was created. [4]

- On April 24, 2005, a page about 30 Seconds to Mars was created by Enfestid[5] on Wikipedia. [6]
- On June 23, 2005, the LiveJournal slash community 30stm_slash was created. [7]

- On September 4, 2006, the fansite A Modern Myth was created. [8]
- On September 7, 2006, a thread about the band was created on Quizilla. It would top out at over 13 pages. [9]

- On January 4, 2007, the fansite The Fantasy.org: A fan site for 30 Seconds To Mars was created. [10]
- On March 1, 2007, bassist Matt Wachter played his last show with the band.

This is a BandFic fandom. Its existence predates July 2005. Material for this fandom can be found several places on the Internet including FanDomination.Net. [17] It is generally believed that there is not an off-line, convention and fanzine based fan fiction community related to this community.
