Aerith Gainsborough is one of the playable characters in Final Fantasy VII. She also appears in the movie Advent Children and the games Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II.
Her name in FFVII was spelled "Aeris," but in Advent Children and the two Kingdom Hearts games, it is spelled "Aerith."

According to canon, Aerith's first boyfriend was Zax/Zack Fair. She also had a crush on Cloud Strife in FFVII; there are serveral portmanteaus for this couple, including Cleris/Clerith or Cloris/Clorith. Fans of Cloud and Aeris have often butted heads with fans of Cloud and Tifa.
