Alexandrite is a beautifully written and very moving story with no superficiality; the tale of a simple birthday gift and the uncertainty of hopes when faced with reality...an absolute must-read even for non-shippers.

This story was originally archived on Geocities. It may have also been archived elsewhere depending on how the archive was maintained. Many archivists published material offsite because of space constraints on GeoCities. (Popular hosts included AngelFire and AOL hometown.) In 2009 Yahoo announced it was going to close Geocities. The archive this story was hosted on will be/was affected by this decision. [2]
