Alt.tv.highlander

The newsgroup, Alt.tv.highlander was created in 1995 for the discussion of Highlander: the series to delineate it from discussions of the film version of the same name. Both discussion and fiction were allowed on the group and from 1995 to 1996 it was one of the most popular forums for fans to gather on. Its primary rival at the time of inception was probably the .edu list, HIGHLA-L.
With the onset of free mail list services like ONElist, Coollist, Egroups and later YahooGroups, the newsgroups became less the single rallying point.
Alt.tv.highlander still exists as a newsgroup as well as mirror version at Google[1]
