Art show
From Fan History Wiki
An Art show is an event at a convention that showcases the artistic creations of convention members and guests. Typical art shows feature both 2-dimensional as well as 3-dimensional work, including sculpture, crafts, and jewelry. Some convention art shows heavily feature fan art whereas other shows will not allow fan art of any kind for copyright reasons.
Often work in the artshow is available for sale either for a direct sale price or at written or oral bids. At fan run media conventions such as MediaWest, fan art was often purchased for use in future fanzines. Hanging work in an artshow typically involves payment of either/both hanging fees or a commission to the convention. Some artshows jury submissions to the show, such as DragonCon, however it is more common for convention artshows to accept any and all art that meets the submission requirements of the show.
