The following definition is from the science fiction fandom and dates to November 2003:
- badge
- The name tag which signifies your membership in a con. Note that you aren't considered to be buying a "ticket" to go to a "show", at a con, you are considered to be part of the family, a member who has voting rights on how (and in some cases where) the next con is run. You are encouraged to help out as a gopher or be part of the c oncom for next year. [1]
