Beatles fandom has been active on-line since at least the late 1990s. This article presents a timeline of community foundation, growth, and movement between various on-line forums including yahoogroup, LiveJournal, and fansites.

- On January 6, 1998, the Beatles Fanfic Ring was created.[1]

- On March 30, 1999, The Beatles Fan Fiction Directory[2] was last updated.

- On July 12, 2001, the LiveJournal community abbey_road was created.[3]

- On September 24, 2000, the beatlesfanfictionlist mailing list was founded.[4]

- On March 22, 2002, the LiveJournal community beatlefanfics was created.[5]
- On August 16, 2002, the LiveJournal community beatlepics was created.[6]
- On September 12, 2002, FanFiction.Net banned all Real Person Fic (RPF). The Beatles community on the BeatleLinks Fab Forum, which had spent the previous two months complaining about the site, immediately went to work trying to have FanFiction.Net rescind their ban. One of their main arguments for keeping this material was that removing it violated their freedom of speech. By September 21, the petition that was circulating in various fan fiction communities had 2,259 signatures.

- On October 19, 2006, the LiveJournal community capslock_beatle was created.[12]

- The Beatles were represented in the 2007 xmas_rocks exchange, with 1 story posted in January of that year.[13]

- As of February of 2008:
- 396 LiveJournal communities and 417 individual members listed "Beatles" as an interest.[15] beatlepics, one of the largest communities, had 1972 members.[16]
