The show originally aired during the 1970s. The Bionic Woman was a spinoff of The Six Million Dollar Man. The show shared many characters in common with that show including Oscar Goldman played by Richard Anderson and Dr. Rudy Wells played by Martin E. Brooks. Lee Majors as Steve Austin also made several guest appearances.

Lindsay Wagner played Jaimie Somers who was a school teacher and love interest of Steve Austin of The Six Million Dollar Man . After an accident which left Jaimie Somers severely injured; Steve Austin persuaded OSI to provide Jaimie Somers with bionic parts like they had given him. The relationship between them eventually fizzled out but they remained friends. The Bionic Woman aired between 1976 and 1978.

A new version of this show was a new in the fall of 2007 and aired on NBC in the United States.
