BiteMeTechie is a member of the fan community and has been involved in fandom since at least 2005. Her most recognizable works are within the Stargate Atlantis fandom and include the Lydia Winter Chronicles (Retribution! and Retribution! Revisted being the most important in the series), the When Plot Bunnies Attack series (including When Plot Bunnies Attack, The Plot Bunnies Strike Back: The Angora Strain, and From The Files Of The Plot Bunny Busters) and the X-Files/Stargate crossover Someone Noticed.

According to her own writings, BiteMeTechie (a.k.a. Lydia 'Techie' Ballard) first entered fandom in 2005, with a (self proclaimed) dreadfully written Harry Potter story called My First Year At Hogwarts (the story has been left up on her fanfiction.net page as a cautionary 'How Not To Write' sort of tale and according to her blog, the central plot is currently being reworked as original fiction).

In June of 2006, she entered the Stargate Atlantis fandom, where she garnered quite a bit of attention for humorous stories and then branched out into other universes. Her most popular work to date is the When Plot Bunnies Attack series. Later, she became involved in a massive Batman fan fiction project with Bright Nova, called the CATverse--a self-insert humor/parody series that has grown to over ninety posted stories thus far, with more planned to come. In addition, the CATverse is being spun off into a webcomic called 'Villainy' with a launch date slated for January, 2009. The artwork for Villainy is provided by Katie Stephens; writing duty is shared with Laura Johnson and Techie is also the letterer of the comic.

As of 2007, Techie also runs the Skiffy Awards, a character-centric fanfiction award ceremony, is responsible for the running of the When Plot Bunnies Attack Forum--a relatively popular multi-fandom forum for challenges and writing related topics.

Also, under the penname 'Kennedy Controversy', BiteMeTechie has published a volume of poetry called 'Songs of a Blood Drenched Sparrow' and in November of 2007, she published 'The Big Little Book of Writing Prompts', a volume of the collected writing prompts from the When Plot Bunnies Attack Forum.

In 2007 her poem 'Song of a Blood Drenched Sparrow' from the anthology of the same name was re-published by the International Society of Poets.

As of 2008, in addition to her works on fanfiction.net, her original fiction and maintaining the Skiffy Awards, she writes articles regularly for RetroJunk and Suite101.

Upcoming projects, according to her blog, include a three issue limited series comic book titled 'Discordia', for which the preliminary scripting has been done. The series is apparently on hold as of spring, 2008. Also planned is a series called 'Penny Dreadful and the Shilling Shockers', a low fantasy adaptation of her story 'My First Year at Hogwarts' as original fiction, an untitled fantasy romance
