Below is a partial timeline of events that took place in this fan community.
- On June 25, 1982, Blade Runner premiered in theaters in the United States. [1]
- On November 28, 2000, Teras In The Rain by Dannell Lites became the first Blade Runner story published on FanFiction.Net. [2]
- On October 2, 2001, the Philip K. Dick/Blade Runner LiveJournal community replicants was created. [3]
- On February 4, 2006, the FanFiction.Net forum Blade Runner: More Human Than Human was created. [4][5]
- On June 2, 2007, the Russian language LiveJournal community ru_bladerunner was created. [6]
- In January 2008, the bebo group bladerunnerfanclub was created. [7]

During that same period, personal computers, aided by their word processing programs, started to have an impact on the publication of fanzines. They, along with the growth of coping services, led to a growth in the number of fanzines and created a situation where more fen could produce their own, high quality fanzines.
