[edit] Introduction
Blogs 4 Brownback (also spelled Blogs For Brownback) is a conservative blog that was created to support Sam Brownback's political campaign for President of the United States. It first stirred up controversy in fandom when a writer made a post regarding the anime Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and essentially calling it a non-Christian, violent, mindless pornfest.[1] The accusations were met with arguments from annoyed fans as well as trolling from 4chaners[2] (also known as 'Anonymous'). Since then, the blog has continued to provide information about various anime series, including Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha and Sailor Moon, among others[3]. Furries have also been targets of B4B's ire[4].
[edit] Timeline
[edit] 2007
- On September 28, 2007, a writer named Psycheout created a post called "Anime Encourages Murder[5]," with claims that Higurashi and other anime were responsible for an axe murder in Japan; otaku and 4chaners respond.
- On October 12, 2007, a post by the same writer called "Early Christmas Alert: Nintendo DS" is posted. The post accuses the Nintendo DS video game system and Playstation Portable of being used to view pornography. Updates on the DS's alleged 'sinfulness' are posted later,[6] but by then the lulz had died down.
- On November 26, 2007, another post is created by the same writer. "Magical Girl Naked Nanoha" focuses on the nudity and offensive content in the anime series Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha.
