Character death

Character death is warning in the introductory material of a fan fiction alerting the reader to the fact that a character will be killed in the piece. Some fandoms are very particular about warning for this as some people get really upset when their favorite character is killed.

The following definition dates to May 2005 in the slash, Westlife, and Lord of the Rings fandoms:
- Character Death - Warning placed in the header of the story indicating that one of the main characters dies in the story. [1]
The following definition dates to November 2005 in the A-Team fandom:
- Character Death - Someone on the team will die if this warning is given. [2]
The following definition dates to 2008 in the Superman fandom:
- Character Death - A heading or warning put on stories warning the reader that in the story one of the canon characters dies. If a story about Lois Lane being killed was written, this story would carry a Character Death warning. [3]
