Chlois Theory
From Fan History Wiki
The Chlois Theory is a term which originates in Smallville fandom. It is the theory put forth by some fans that the character Chloe Sullivan is actually Lois Lane, that at some point in the future she would change her name or otherwise become the character known as Lois in Superman canon. Originally proposed eary in the Smallville series run, before Lois Lane was actually introduced as a character in Season 4, the theory is still embraced by some users through the sixth season of the series.[1]

[edit] Historical Definitions
- The Smallville fansite Smallville Twist puts forth the following definition of the Chlois Theory:
"A blend of Chloe and Lois that refers to the character Chloe Sullivan, played by Allison Mack, in the TV series Smallville. The word Chlois originated with a group of Smallville's online community of viewers and is an off-screen, not on-screen nickname for Chloe. Chlois alludes to two main aspects of Chloe's character. The first is factual: her Lois Lane-like nature, which was established in the first episode of the series and has its origins in the pre-series planning. The second is speculative as of this writing: that, in a Smallville what's-in-a-name twist on the usual Lois Lane role in the story, Chloe Sullivan is both (i) the Daily Planet reporter character and (ii) the Ultimate Romance destiny of Clark Kent aka Superman."[2]
