[edit] Introduction
Comlink was a letter- and review-zine dedicated to Star Wars and Media SF Literature.
[edit] Publication history
- The first edition of Comlink was released in early 1981. Fan-reaction to The Empire Strikes Back was the primary topic of the first edition, including speculation by Linda Deneroff on whether Darth Vader really was Luke Skywalker's father or not, and Pat Nussman on how the release of TESB will affect fan-writing in the Star Wars universe. Judith Gran also published a lengthy letter on the debate over whether publishing fan-fiction was legal or not. Fan-reaction to Leia Organa was also discussed by Maggie Nowakowska.
- Comlink #9 was published October 15, 1982. In this issue, Pat Nussman raised the question, "Where the Boys Are", examining the gender make-up of media fandom at the time and how it was skewed towards greater female participation, specifically in Star Wars fandom. Barbara Tennison commented on several other genre films recently released including Blade Runner and E.T.. Milton F. Stevens commented on the split between media fandom and scifi print fandom.
