On DC Comic's web site, they have a blurb which states that they are not liable for similarities between fan fiction and story lines if people post fan fiction to their forums. Any similarities is coincidental.
A1KaMo says on SlashDot's message board that DC Comics has hired some one, namely Devin Grayson, after copies of her fan fiction reached them.

- MCStories.Com, an adult erotica archive, recieved a cease and desist letter in 1998 from Warner Brothers and DC Comics related fan fiction on the site.

- On June 14, 2004, the LiveJournal community comics_genfic was founded. [1]
