[edit] Fan fiction
The Def Leppard fan fiction community, like many bandfic communities, sees a spike when new material is released or when the band goes on tour. When those periods end, the community dies back. As such, the last time this community was truely very active was back in 2003. At the present, there are only two authors in the community who update regularly. (Bella Cheval on RockFic)

[edit] Big Name Fans
In the Def Leppard fandom, there are BNFs who are BNFs in that everyone knows their names... because the band has restraining orders against them. (One sent bullets to a band member with the band member's name and the name of his wife and kids on it.) There are also BNFs because of their official access to the band and BNFs who are BNFs for maintaining popular band related sites. There are a few BNFs for their fan fiction but that's a smaller population and those BNFs would not necessarily be BNFs outside of that mailing list, that fan fiction site.
