• In 1994, the Dr. Quinn Discussion List was created. In 1998, this mailing list launched a campaign to save their show. They managed to convince the powers that be to make two Doctor Quinn movies and in the process, a number of fen became well acquainted with the cast, television executives and producers of the show. By 1999, Doctor Quinn fen were using the term beta reader on static web pages like author personal sites and non-automated fan fiction archives.
• On January 11, 2004, the LiveJournal community dqmw was created. [1]
