- On September 16, 2002, doctorwho [1], a LiveJournal community, was created.

- On May 21, 2003, the LiveJournal community allcrossovers was created. [2] Posted to the community was fan fiction from some of the following fandoms: Angel, Animorphs, Blade, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, CSI, CSI: Miami, Doctor Who, Grey’s Anatomy, Guyver, Harry Potter, Highlander, Lord of the Rings, Lost, Northern Exposure, Smallville, Sports Night, Star Trek, Stargate, Tomorrow People, Tortall, Veronica Mars.
- On July 23, 2003, the LiveJournal community beta_search was founded. [3] It was created so people could find beta readers. Fan fiction communities represented by this community include but are not limited to: Batman, Brokeback Mountain, Brokeback Mountain real person fic, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer Doctor Who, Dragonriders of Pern, Fifth Element, Gundam Wing, Hanson, Harry Potter, HIM, Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, InuYasha, L.J. - On November 11, 2004, the LiveJournal community 3_ships was founded. [6] It is a threesome secret santa community. - April 14th: time_and_chips (Doctor/Rose) livejournal community created.
- April 21st: dw_slash livejournal community created.
- May 20th: dwcanon_fodder livejournal community created, to help new fans writing fic that used canon details from outside the 2005 series.
- June 9th: dwfanvids livejournal community created.
- August 10th: who_otp livejournal community created, for shipfic other than "the Ninth or Tenth Doctor with either Rose or Jack."
- On September 1, 2005, dw_recs [7], a Doctor Who LiveJournal community, was created.
- On October 7, 2005, tennant_love [8] David Tennant livejournal community was created.
- December 28th: who_daily [9] livejournal fandom newsletter created.

- January 5th: multi_who [10] livejournal community created, after discussions about the perceived divide between "New School" and "Old School" fans.
- January 19th: otp_probably [11] Doctor/Romana livejournal community created.
- January 22nd: dw_britglish [12] livejournal community created, for britpicking help for DW fic.
- June - July: little_bit_foxy livejournal community created for the "First Annual DW Kinkathon," responding to a perceived lack of "non-vanilla" adult Doctor Who fic.
- June 15th: two_love [13] Second Doctor livejournal community created.
- July 4th: lifeonmartha livejournal community created.
- December 10th: dw_ficsearch [14] livejournal community created, to help fans search for specific fics.
