[edit] General biography
Eighth-Horizon is a relatively prolific fan writer known stylistically for her unique ability to merge angst and drama with a lot of good natured humor. She is active in the Supernatural fandom.
Eighth-Horizon is comfortable writing slash, but most of her work in the Supernatural fandom is gen, including the popular Month of Open Door Series. Her understanding and portrayal of the deep affection and adoration between the brothers Winchester is satisfying to even some of the most die hard slashers. Her work really doesn't lend itself to the classification of Smarm but it definitely comes close.
She runs an annual charity auction (of limited scope due to time constraints) to raise funds for The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
[edit] Timeline
Below is a partial timeline of this author's involvement in fandom.
- Although Eighth-Horizon's website was established in 1999, the first public LiveJournal posting was November 5, 2005 with a posting of Journey fic.
- The first Supernatural story posted was Beacon on December 25, 2005.
- The first installment of The Month of Open Doors was, And Fools Shine On... on January 8, 2006.
- On April 14, 2006, she posted a short "happy" future fic, Salvation, which was meant as a one-off but has become a popular series, with multi-author contributions (all with Eighth-Horizon's blessings). The series is arguably sentimental and sappy and occasionally silly, but with hints and murmurs of horror still as the Winchester brothers continue to fight off supernatural evil while juggling careers, wives, kids, car pools and their own complicated relationship.
