Fan fiction awards
From Fan History Wiki
In 1977, Sharon Ferraro and Paula Smith created the Fan Quality Awards (FanQ) awards in conjunction with SeKwester*Con Too. The original categories were Star Trek fandom awards for Best Writer and Best Artist.
By 1998, the Forever Knight fandom had developed a strong and thriving fan fiction community on-line. Fans wanted awards, dating back to the tradition in fan fiction communities with the FanQs. They started voting for best fan stories on the web with the The Forever Knight Fan Fiction Awards. The results covered fan fiction published on-line in 1997 and 1998. These awards were still going on in at late as 2000.
Awards were being given in a lot of fan space on-line in 2001. There were numerous ones being given this year. They included the ASC Awards and the Golden Os in the Star Trek community, the Damn Fine Awards, the Darth Yoshi Awards, the CBFFAs in the comic book fan fiction community, the Kerth awards in the Lois and Clark community, the SG-1 Awards in the Stargate community and the Spookys in the X-Files fan fiction community.
The Lord of the Rings fandom continued a tradition of giving out fan fiction awards on-line. In 2003 and 2004, the Mithril Awards were given out in the Lord of the Rings fan fiction community.
On-line fan fiction awards were being given in this fan fiction community in 2004. Among the awards available for Command and Conquer comic writers were the Damn Fine Awards given by the Bludhaven mailing list.
