From Fan History Wiki

Fan works is a collective term for any and all producable works by fans. This includes (but is not limited to) Fan fiction, Vidding, artwork (including manips, icons, and wallpapers), essays and meta, fanzines and any other of the myriad artistic and pragmatic works fans can come up with.
