[edit] Introduction
Actor fandoms have special organizational issues because they are fandoms unto themselves and subfandoms of other categories. There are also broader actor fandom communities based around a show's actors where people make fan art, fan vids and fan fiction for them. Almost all the categories deal with people's first name.
Before editing category structure in actor fandom related categories, you should read this help page. If you have additional questions regarding the organization, you should comment on this talk page or talk pages of relevant categories. If you do a full scale modification of articles or categories before doing that, your edits may be rolled back.
[edit] General organizational philosophy
Fan History treats actor fandoms as a separate fandom culture. Fan History does not treat actor fandoms as a component of media fandom. This generally means that they are organized top level in Category:Actors.
[edit] Rules
[edit] Category corrections
If a category is empty except for a category it belongs to, do not blank the page. Please request that the category be deleted. Blanking categories or removing categories whole scale from pages with out explaining why before you do that may result in your being banned from the wiki for vandalism. If you want to engage in a recategorization effort, please discuss it on the actor to do list or in the main category for an actor fandom so others can help you in this task. If you want additional help, please comment on the talk pages of contributors who have helped in that category in the past. See an article or category's history to find that information.
[edit] Examples
When in doubt, look at how the category structure for that fandom is already set up and try to think where it would logical belong.
[edit] Subcategories
To keep the main categories list free from clutter, articles that belong in a subcategory should not also be placed in the main category. Subcategory organization can be started once there is a single article that could be put in it. This is make sure a category is ready for growth of new articles, to help avoid confusion regarding content found in a category and to help people realize articles in the subcategory do not carry the same weight as the main articles. It is also encouraged to provide a consistent category structure across the wiki.
If some one wants to create a different category structure for a fandom, they should comment on talk pages, and propose that organization. If there are no other active contributors, please contact an administrator and ask them to read the conversation you started. An administrator will be necessary as they will be required to help you delete any categories that you remove and they also have to patrol your edits. If you don't explain things to them before beginning a category re-organization method, they may roll back all your edits.
Once you've announced this and other contributors agree and administrators are aware of your activities, create a help page like Help:Forever Knight which can be used as a guide for others as to how to categorize articles in that category.
