- On July 31, 1996, Brenda Antrim's "Krychek" was the first piece of Mulder/Krycek slash published.
- On July 31, 1999, the Farscape mailing list Farscape-shippers was created. [1]
- On July 31, 1999, the mailing list Skinnerholics was created. [2]
- On July 28, 2001, FanFiction.Net began what would be an extended downtime. This was a considerable help to the launch of FictionAlley.Org, and Heidi and others on the FictionAlley.Org staff capitalized on this downtime in their posts on HP_FanFiction. [3] These parties used the opportunity to plug FictionAlley.Org. This extended downtime continued until at least July 31, 2001.
- On July 31, 2004, Mynuet completely gave up on being able to review all submissions by herself and forms the Cabal, the group of power-mad martinets who review fics for FIA.
