Flourish is a member of the fan community and has been involved in fandom since at least 2001.

Flourish is a member of the Harry Potter fan fiction community. She started in fandom by first becoming a FanFiction.Net columnist & columnist recruiter. In June of 2001, after complaining that she had been excluded from the process that resulted in Cassandra Claire being kicked off FanFiction.Net for plagiarism and complaining about the staff, she resigned from FanFiction.Net's staff. She went on to become one of the founding members of FictionAlley.Org at the tender age of fourteen. She was one of the early supporters of Msscribe. She was the one person behind the "Gryffindor Tower: Human or Cockroach?" icons. As the Msscribe antics came to life, she apologized for her part, partly because she has not been friends with Msscribe or that part of fandom for a while.[1]

Below is a partial timeline of this person's involvement in fandom.
- On July 22, 2001, the Schnoogle.Com section of FictionAlley.Org opened. According to Heidi8, the site was founded by about twenty people. They included Flourish, Narri Patters, Colin, Ebony, Heidi8, Cassandra Claire, Simon, Al, Carole Estes, Mon Starling, Priscilla Spencer, Jana, Yael Pou and Viola. [2] Mon Starling and Priscilla Spencer designed the art work for the site. [3] The first registered user who was not a moderator was R. J. Anderson, [4] the author who had offered to mediate between Cassandra Claire and Pamela Dean during the plagiarism incident. Penny Linsenmayer was another early member. [5] A sample announcement, taken from the hpslash list, appears below [6] with a similar announcement appearing the next day on the HP_Fanfiction list [7]:
