Fluff

Fluff a piece of fan fiction that is light and fun to read. As opposed to angst, fluff is not serious. Fluff is frequently characterized as having no real message, as being happy. Fluff can be derogatory meaning in that a piece lacked substance. This term is often used in comic book and Harry Potter fandoms.

The following definition dates to August 2003 in the Gundam Wing fandom:
- Fluff: Light-hearted, happy stuff. No real content.[1]
The following definition dates to May 2004 in the Harry Potter, Horatio Hornblower and Pirates of the Caribbean fandoms:
- Fluff:

The following definition dates to December 2005 in the Harry Potter fandom:
- fluff - Fanfic that is mostly sweet, sometimes humerousand bereft of significant on-page character development. [3]
The following definition dates to May 2006 in the anime fandom:
- WAFF / Fluff:
- WAFF is an acronym for "warm and fuzzy feeling"... basically a feel-good story. Fluff is similar, but usually refers to WAFF stories with very little plot as well.[4]
The following definition dates to April 2007 in the comics fandom:
- Fluff—Romantic lovey-dovey, but not in the sense portrayed by Mary Sue writers, often between to existing characters or a very accepted OC. Fluff also refers to cuteness, any kind of love, comfort, and warmth. Things that make you go “Aaawww!”.[5]
