[edit] Forever Knight Universe Terms

  • Nick gives Alyssa some of his blood in order to bring her across
Bring Across or Bring Over - The act of transforming a mortal into a vampire. This is done by draining the mortal's blood until they are close to death, and then replacing it with some of the vampire's own blood, either drunk from the wrist or a cup. The human remains unconscious for a period of time thereafter (varying, depending on the episode), and wakes as a vampire.
  • Come Across or Come Over - The same act from the new vampire's perspective. (E.g., Nick Knight came across in 1228 when he was brought across by LaCroix.)

First Appearance: 1x01 - Dark Knight - opening credits monologue

  • Screed prefers to drink rat's blood
Carouche - A vampire whose first kill is an animal, rather than a human being. A carouche then hungers only for that type of animal's blood, though any (even human) can sustain it, just as any other vampire. There seems to be a prejudice among true vampires against carouches as being a lower form of their kind.

First Appearance: 3x02 - The Black Buddha, Pt. 2, though not using this terminology

First Use of Term: 3x05 - Blind Faith

  • an Enforcer at work
Enforcer - Vampires who ruthless enforce the code that all humans who discover the true existence of vampires must be eliminated, one way or another, along with the evidence. In comparison with other vampires, the faces of the Enforcers are brutal and ugly, even when they do not seem to be in vampire mode, and their fangs seem to be unusually long.

First Appearance: 1x17 - Unreality TV

  • Master - The vampire who brought across another vampire.

  • Resister (Resistor) - A mortal with the fortitude to resist being hypnotized by a vampire. Any mortal becomes a resister if he or she possesses empirical evidence of the vampire's existence. (Note: the etymologically correct spelling of the word is "resistor"; but both spellings are common in FK fandom.)

First Appearance: 3x02 - Black Buddha Pt. 2

  • Whammy -
Nick hypnotizing someone

First Appearance: 3x02 - Black Buddha Pt. 2 Slang. Refers to the vampiric power of hypnotism. Can be used either as a noun (to "put the whammy on" someone) or as a verb ("to whammy" them). Visually, one knows that a vampire is hynotizing a person when they stare at them intently, usually with the eyes going the characteristic vampire green-gold.

[edit] Forever Knight Production Terms

  • a glass of "blood"
Ribena - concentrated sweetened blackcurrant juice, used to simulate blood. (A British brand name.) The colour is actually a dark translucent purplish red, rather than the bright colour of oxygenated blood.

  • Bloopers -
  • Flying -
  • an angry vampire's eyes
Contacts - Coloured contact lenses used to simulate the changed colour of the eyes of vampires who are using their powers. In the first season, yellowish lenses were used. Thereafter, a different type of lens was worn that reflected the colour of the light shone upon it. A light greenish yellow colour was used for the eyes of vampires using hypnosis, or simply demonstrating their vampire features. An orange tone was used for the eyes of vampires who are angry or lustful.
