The following definition dates to December 2005 in the Harry Potter fandom:

gack - generally used to mean "taken from" or "originally created by someone else", but only in a casual sense. You can gack an avatar from someone, with permission, or a meme with or without permission. You can't gack lines from someone else's fanfic. [1]
