[edit] Timeline

Below is a partial timeline of events that took place in this fan community.

[edit] 1972

  • "The original 1972 Kagaku ninja tai Gatchaman series was followed by two sequel series, Gatchaman II (1978) and Gatchaman F (1979)." [1]

[edit] 1980

There could well have been fanfics of earlier series, but I doubt it because fanfics are usually written by older fans, and the very early anime (Astro Boy, Speed Racer, Kimba, etc) tended to aim for a younger demographic.
I would not be at all surprised to learn of the existence of a Gatchaman/BotP fanfic older than Yamato, though.

[edit] 1986

  • The Bird Scramble APA (Amateur Press Association) was founded by Pat Munson-Siter in August 1986 with 17 members. This fan publication runs four times a year and features fan fiction, fan art and articles on Gatchaman/BotP collectables and production. Bird Scramble is still active, with 25 members. [2]
