- On August 16, 1999, the harrypotteranonymous mailing list was created. [1] This list predated HPforGrownUps and would bring in several parties that were influential in the early activities of the Inner Circle. The list would also help set the tone for some of the ideas for how canon should be, speculation about what would happen in the books that Cassandra Claire's works would ultimately mirror in some ways.
- On February 7, 2000, Penny Linsenmayer, one of the early members of Cassandra Claire's inner circle, made the following post to HP Anonymous:
- ROMANCE PAIRINGS: Ron and Hermione have plenty of potential -- lots
- of sexual tension in that relationship. I think
- there's a possibility for Harry and Ginny, although I'm not sure she
- is developed enough as a character yet for any of us to think
- she's quite right for him. She had such a small role in POA. It will
- be interesting to see how that turns out. She could develop
- into a character that we will all think is worthy of Harry's romantic
- partner. For now, I don't see any of the females currently in
- the cast as being quite "up to snuff" (I think Hermione is better with
- Ron so I've discounted her) [2]
- On March 6, 2000, Lori Summers, another person who would become a member of Cassandra Claire's inner circle, posted to HP Anonymous:
- I too am in the Harry/Hermione camp but I have my own theories about
- that, and I also have that sneaking suspicion that Ron
- may not be long for the world or that he might not continue to be one
- of the good guys. [3]
