Introduction

This RPF fandom came to prominence in the late 1990s as part of the teen pop craze of the time, and has continued to grow as the band and their fans matured. Although not part of the core bandom group, this is a bandfic fandom, entirely distinct from the popslash fandom. Today, the fandom is a rather small one.

History of the Band

Hanson consist of three brothers -- Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson -- from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The band performed their first concert in 1992 and recorded two independent records before signing with Mercury Records and recording 1997's Middle of Nowhere. They achieved great commercial success with this album and the single MMMBop. The band suffered from the merger that moved them from Mercury Records to Island Def Jam, and eventually left the record company to form their own company, 3CG Records. [1]

Fan fiction

On July 24, 1999, a Hanson fansite made the following statement regarding fan fiction:

There are thousands upon thousands of Hanson fan fiction on the net. At first, it was your basic teenybopper story- girl moves to Tulsa/girl finds out she lives next door to Hanson/Girl makes friends with them/Becomes one of Hanson's girlfriend (Most likely Taylor)/They live happily ever after. Luckily people have been writing stories that are edgier and cooler- and actually have a plot. Here's our list of the highly recommended one [48]

Spanish

By July 2001, there was a Spanish language fan fiction community that was active. Its popularity started to fade by 2003.

The following is an introduction posted on one Geocities based Hanson fan fiction archive:

Eu tenho certeza q vcs pensaram q o fim da Hanson Fan Fictions tinha chegado, né? Eu cheguei a pensar tb.
