Hate meme

Hate memes started in late 2005 as a way to anonymously criticize members of the fandom that other fen didn't like with out fear of retribution. These memes were found in the Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Queer as Folk, Smallville, Stargate, Supernatural and Harry Potter fan fiction communities. These memes were usually hosted on LiveJournal and were frequently removed from the site for terms of service violations. They remain anon because IP logging is turned off. The general rule is that only posts that are non-anon are deleted. Some hate memes, in order to prolong their shelf life, delete comments that are likely to get them ToSed. These include pictures of people like Cassandra Claire, stories posted without permission, and fangirl RPF. Some of that material is posted intentionally and then reported by the person who posted it with the hope of getting the journal removed from LiveJournal.
Frequent subjects of Harry Potter hate memes included Cassandra Claire, Heidi8, Msscribe, fpb, Gun, and oulangi. Other memes frequently touch upon people and things like Fandom wank and Emiweebee.
