Help:Fanworks promotion

From Fan History Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Fan History is dedicated to documenting the history of fandom. It is not an archive for such works. Users should not post their fanworks to the wiki. Despite this, Fan History has the infrastructure to promote authors, artists, vidders, machima creators, tribute bands and other fanworks that contributors can take advantage of.

Fanworks can be promoted in the following ways:

  • As examples of certain types of works or movements on terminology pages in sections for examples.
  • On pages about a fanwork. Articles can be created about those fanworks. See Template:Story for an idea on how to create pages about fanworks.
  • On pages about members of fandom. See Template:Person for an idea on how to create pages about people in fandom.
  • In external link sections on relevant pages.
  • On bibliography pages of listings of fanworks produced in fandom. See Avenged Sevenfold stories for an example of this being done on the wiki already.
  • On User pages that a contributor creates. User:Laura/Reading GSR is an example of a user page which lists stories the User read.
  • In sections regarding influential fanworks, though such works should actually be influential before they are included.
  • On timelines when the events are relevant to a fandom or community history.
  • On episode pages if the fanwork was created in response to an episode of television. See Category:CSI episodes for examples and Template:Episode for a template on creating a new page about an episode.

Fan History will not ban any user for adding external links so long as the link they added fits with the page it was added to and was added to the relevant section.
