[edit] Multiple perspectives

When writing the history of some events, it can be hard to establish a neutral point of view. This is because there are usually two or more perspectives of an event, some of which are diametrically opposed to each other. The multiple perspectives come from those who chose to act for, or to sympathize with, one side or another. Providing an account of events that will satisfy all parties may thus be impossible. To allow for the telling of the history of events in fandom when this is an issue, Fan History allows for Multiple Perspectives. These accounts should be labeled. The end goal of allowing multiple perspectives is to work those perspectives in to a neutral narrative.

[edit] Labeling multiple perspectives

This section contains the perspective of a participant or observer. It is intentionally not neutral in order to provide multiple perspectives on an event. Information in this section may need to be integrated into the article to ensure that the overall article is neutral.

{{MP}}

The above text box should be included in any sub-sections where an editor wishes to give his or her own perspective of an event. Any such perspective should be written in the first person, to distinguish it from the rest of the article. The multiple perspective should also indicate who is writing it, either with an account signature (--~~~~) or the person's penname or real name appended to what is written.

[edit] Neutral points of view

Our goal at Fan History is to present as full a picture of fandom as we can contrive. With this in mind, when multiple perspectives are added to an article, our intent is to eventually fold such statements into the article, creating a balanced look at events.
