Problems with the real name deletion

What I see as the main problem with this policy as it stands is that the real name is still on the wiki, in the talk page created for the removal notice. It may also be in other articles; is it our place or theirs to find all the other spots where the real name may be listed? Is there a global "find/replace" option that would allow us to change those throughout? --Tikatu 17:44, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

I think it should be up to the person to inform us so we can remove. This can be a bit challenging though. I've learned the hard way in trying to get my last name off the wiki. :/ Last name here would not pull up all the time when i was searching for it. If we are informed though, it would be somewhat easy to do a universal find and replace. We could do it with pywikimediabot and categoryfixing bot. I've done a number of general find and replaces for it. Then you can look to see what changes were made by the bot and then delete the version with their real name included using Oversight. --Laura 13:28, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
One issue that needs to be addressed is when we are dealing with an article being deleted/renamed because of real name usage... having an {{RNDR}} on the talk page highlights their real name so we would need it what? Posted on that page and posted on say Help:Real name deletion/Deletion requests where we delete the talk page in question and the person's real name. --Laura 13:28, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Another issue: What if you're some one who is fandom famous as a professional, say an academic or a small time published fantasy author or small press author who has a fannish name and operates using a real name and nominally keeps them separate but has crossover that they themselves created. That's the sticky one. The person falls into our category of non-deletion because they are notable. But are we going to honor those requests to remove real names? I'm just not certain how to enshrine that policy in a way that is consistent, fair, etc. Non-notable fans it is easy to just whack but the notable category is a bit of a pain, especially as our deletion policy says no deleting. --Laura 13:28, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

The guy at WikiFur linked me to this. It might be worth looking at to evaluate our policies in comparison. --Laura 17:18, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
