Idylls

Idylls is a Star Trek relationship fanzine, featuring romance, relationships, Mary Sues and other light-hearted fair. It was first published in January 1984 by Randall Landers of Orion Press.

[edit] Introduction
An Orion Press relationship fanzine. Realizing that Stardate (later named Orion) was focusing only on action-adventure, it became obvious that another fanzine was needed to handle the numerous romance- and relationship-oriented Star Trek fanfic being submitted for publication. Randy Landers created Idylls for this purpose.
Idylls went through a number of editors: Mindy French, Althea Katz, Randy Landers, Linda McInnis, Cheryl Washington and Ann Zewen all had a hand in editing various issues. With the release of Star Trek: The Next Generation, stories of that genre were soon included in Idylls 3 and 4. Realizing that there was little overlap between Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation fandoms, the decision was made to alternate the relationship and romance stories between issues. From Idylls 5 until Idylls 11, odd-numbered issues were exclusively Star Trek: The Next Generation-oriented, leaving the even-numbered issues from Idylls 6 until Idylls 10 exclusively devoted to the original Star Trek.
Following the creation of Interludes in July 1996, Idylls was designated exclusively Star Trek: The Next Generation until the zine ceased publication with the release of Idylls 19 in 1999.

The outpouring of love for Idylls continues to this day. This fanzine was one of the most popular, best-selling titles ever published by Orion Press due in no small part to editors Ann Zewen, Mindi French and Althea Katz. Some of the TOS stories were later incorporated into the Orion Press universe and, along with corresponding letters-of-comment, they are available on the ORION PRESS website..
