In March 2005, the Harry Potter fandom went through what some people called “Charity Wank.” This situation involved the issue of fen linking to other charitable causes in the fan fiction community. When Heidi8, a BNF, refused to link to 4Christina.Org, various people got upset as she appeared, to them, to not be linking to it for personal reasons while at the same time plugging her own charities.
