JA Ingram
From Fan History Wiki
JA Ingram, formerly JA Chapman, is the infamous Star Trek author and creator of the satirical TSU (TrekSmut University) on the fanfiction list ASCEM. Jen is also known by her handle, "LaDemonessa," given to her by ASCEM legend Ruth Gifford who called her a demon of mischief.
Jen's wildly original characters set her apart from the rest of the ASCEM old guard along with her biting sarcasm and irreverent humor. Mostly a Garak and Bashir author, she has also written in other trek fandoms and Sentinal slash. Some of her most famous and beloved original characters include Wanda the duck, Scaley Peanut the Bonobo monkey, Lou the closet monster, Bubba, M'rk, S'tv, and Duarto of Duarto's House of Hair, along with many others which have been adopted and expanded on by many authors in her circle of friends.
Her writing career in fanfiction began with her Garak and Bashir series, "The Honeymoon's Over" which was written as a satirical comeback to all the over the top, mushy G/B marriage stories which were popping up. The Honeymoon's Over trilogy won several Golden Oh's and made the fan community sit up and pay attention.
Shortly after arriving to ASCEM, Jen stumbled on a heated debate caused when a young college student stated her intentions to write her college thesis on fanfiction. Many writers grew offended at the idea of having their work reprinted in a college textbook. Jen, however, found the idea of parents spending tens of thousands of dollars on tuition just so their children could study fanfiction so amusing she launched a series of stories set in a fiction universe known as TrekSmut University or TSU.
TSU was unique to fandom in that it mixed real-life trek writers and their favorite characters without succumbing to Mary Sue syndrome. Lightly sarcastic and highly engaging the series quickly caught on and was credited with turning the faction of ASCEM's different fandoms, who were often accused of being cliques, together.
Jen has written dozens of stories and won numerous awards. She has written with many partners including Olivia Monteith and Charlene Vickers, and is currently involved with a series of novellas known as The Garak and Bashir Mysteries. Her main love is the group Fuh-Q which was founded by herself and Charlene Vickers and she still contributes to ASCEM.
Jen is married to Chris Ingram and has one son, Jonah. They live in Grenada, Mississippi.
