- In January 1997, “Truth or Dare” was written by Word Warrior. This story's debut on the Internet was important because the story portrayed Xena as dark and troubled. It would inspire many fan fiction writers to depict Xena in a similar manner. ( Lunacy )
- Willtara, a mailing list, was founded on January 30, 2000. It was created for the discussion of and posting of fan fiction realted to the Saffic pairing of Willow/Tara.
- On January 30, 2001, the mailing list Harry_Potter_Playground4Grownups was created. [1]
- In February, the HP_Paradise mailing list was founded. This list’s volume peaked in June of 2001.
- On January 30, 2004, the LiveJournal community whoosh_org was founded to support the Whoosh website. [2]
