Jeri Taylor was blamed by many during the original run of the show of killing off the show and destroying many of the characters because of her desire to write the characters as versions of herself and because of her desire to try to make Janeway/Chakotay as canon despite Kate Mulgrew's vocal opposition to this. Many Janeway/Chakotay fans felt that she was responsible for what became of Chakotay's characterization.
Kate Mulgrew is also reported to have had a conflict with the producers over bringing in Jeri Ryan. She took out her ill feelings on Jeri Ryan.
