Kid fic

Kidfic is a type of story that often gives characters a child to raise, be it their own or someone else's. Often related to mpreg but often can be completely separate. Normally happens with slashed characters. The less likely the a person seems to want kids the more likely writers will give them one. Methos from Highlander is a popular candidate.
