[edit] Timeline
Below is a partial timeline of this author's involvement in fandom.
- In November 1997, H. L. Moore, an X-Files fan fiction writer, had her story "Forgiven" plagiarized by a Silk Stalkings author. [1] The same Silk Stalkings plagiarist also stole Kipler's "How the Grinch Stole R'Hood."[2]
- In December 1997, alt.tv.x-files.creative had another debate regarding what is and is not plagiarism. The thrust of one argument that fan fiction itself is plagiarism so when some one steals word for word some one else's work, it isn't so much plagiarism as it is copying. There was much disagreement over this. The major participants in this discussion included Marianne, Elixia, Kipler, Dawson E. Rambo, MSR XFiles, Phetsy Calderon, Circe and Patricia S. Martinez. [3]
