Kyou Kara Maou is a fantasy anime series with shonen ai undertones.

Canon is a term used by fans to express a romantic coupling that is indeed a fact. Although Kyou Kara Maou has slash couplings within it (Slash meaning that the relationship is perceived) there are no true romantic couples dealing with the main characters. Although Yuuri and Wolfram, the two mainly percieved by fans to be a canon couple, are to be wed, there is no facts leading to them actually loving each other. In fact Yuuri during several episodes denies their engagement, and even attempts to get Wolfram with others. Wolfram as well shows little to no romantic feelings for the king besides one of ownership, especially when he believes Yuuri to be "cheating", a.k.a. conversing with other characters.

- On September 1, 2005, the fansite ++ Kyou Kara Maou ++ Kyo Kara Maoh ++ was created. [2]

- On January 5, 2006, an article about Kyou Kara Maou was created on Wikipedia. [3]
- On May 29, 2006, the LiveJournal community 30_dreams was created. [4] It was created so authors could explore the "kiss theme." Fandoms represented by this community include but are not limited to: Card Captor Sakura, Final Fantasy VII, Gravitation, House M.D., Kingdom Hearts, Kyou Kara Maou, Mulan, Yu Yu Hakusho.
