[edit] General biography
LadyLark is primarily an anime fanfiction author although she does branch out into other fandoms including CSI, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Final Fantasy. She started out as a pre-reader under the name Megamichan on the FFML in 1995 for the authors Joseph Kohle and Anand Rao. In 1997, she joined GRAAC (The Grand Rapids Area Anime Club) and went on to run their convention. While in college, she was a member of ACO, the Asian Cultural Organization, and during her three years with group held a variety of positions within it. In 1998, she laid the groundwork for Central Michigan University's anime club and selected the man who would be its first president as her successor.
While a member of GRAAC, she worked on several fan parodies. Hosted 35mm anime showings and ran anime themed roleplaying games. As a fan, she has cosplayed and created fanart (albeit badly.) During this time period, she laid what would turn out to be the groundwork for her entrance into the convention staffing scene. She met Jeff Thompson of TRSI and Steve Pearl, the American Otaking, at Katsucon and from there met many other "super fans" and guests.
LadyLark officially staffed a non-collegiate convention in 2000 at Nekocon. She was a member of the guest relations staff, the people who take care of the guests and make sure that they get what they need when they need it. There, she made connections with the con-chairs of the first Ohayocon and was brought in as Guest relations for them. When she got to that convention, she ended up assuming a more supervisory role including Japanese Guest Liason. LadyLark staffed Ohayocon for three years before leaving the convention to pursue other interests. In 2001, LadyLark joined the staff of Otakon in the Special Operations department. She has risen through the ranks of the con despite living half a continent away.
In 2001, she published her first fanfiction. Also in 2001, she became a moderator on 0-DBZ-Fanfiction. She is a moderator on the animefanficgems yahoo group and is the owner of DBZFanficGems yahoo group. When FF.net implemented its no adult fics ban, she worked with Ayla in coming up with some of the codes used for the new site AdultFanfiction.net. However, she is probably best known in fandom as one of the Moderators of Mediaminer.org.
As an author, LadyLark tends to be known for her one-shots rather than her multi-chapter fics. The reason stated is that she "updates slower than the earth experiences ice ages."[4] She has several Works In Progress under her name that she claims she will finish. She typically writes het or gen fanfiction although she has written one yuri and two yaoi short fics.
At MediaMiner, she is one of the Moderators of the Fanfiction section. She is also in charge of the Anime section of the site and moderates on the forums. She is the head of the Featured Fanfiction committee and the Mini-Contest committee. In addition, she is one of the Coordinators of the Maximum Challege contest. She has also been a judge of various contests on the site for some time. Many of her fiction have won awards during the MediaMiner BAFFC now the Maximum Challenge Contest.
