[edit] History
- The phrase was used on Television without Pity in reference to Lionel Luthor of Smallville, although it can also be applied to any character of a certain type who is difficult to define as good or evil, one whose complicated nature and devious machinations make him or her one to be both admired and hated. Its first use at Television without Pity appears in Omar G's recap of the first season episode "Jitters", which aired December 11, 2001.[2]
