Based on the Superman comics, this series follows teenage years and young adulthood of his alter-ego Clark Kent. In the universe of the television series, a meteor shower destroys much of the town of Smallville in October 1989; during the meteor fall, Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent find a small child of unusual powers in a spacecraft wreck in a cornfield. Another character whose destiny is impacted on this day is Lex Luthor, son of Lionel Luthor, whose future would be linked to Clark's from that day forward.
