Metafandom is a LiveJournal newsletter community that links to meta discussions occurring publicly in personal and community journals. It is panfannish in nature and was founded on January 23, 2005.

During mid-January 2008, the community had a flood of articles plugging the Organization for Transformative Works. The large quantity of these posts was attributed to the fact that in early January 2008, some community watchers thought that the community had too many anti-Organization for Transformative Works posts.
In April 2008, there was a discussion in fandom regarding the decision to tag posts RockFic instead of bandom when a wider usage of the term bandom would have been more appropriate given the scope of the bands being covered in a particular post. [1]
